Accessible Recreation for Coloradoans and Visitors

Connecting communities to varied recreation opportunities

  • Electric Assisted Adventure

Not only for the hard core: in the years since the trail corridor was originally imagined, electric assisted bikes have opened up a world of opportunity for more people to be able to experience bike trails regardless of age, physical limitations, and experience level. A thriving bike and e-bike rental economoy is expanding in the mountains and provides a unique experience for visitors to explore Colorado - riders could pick up their bikes from a hotel in Vail and ride all the way to Leadville in a day.

  • Separating Users from the Highway

The only route from Minturn to Red Cliff, Leadville, Ski Cooper, and Camp Hale for cyclists is the narrow, windy highway 24. A route without shoulders that also serves as a commuter and truck connection plus is designated a “scenic byway”, providing a separate route for cyclists and events like the Copper Triangle and Ride the Rockies would benefit all travelers.

  • Access for All

Opportunities for fishing, hunting, whitewater, hiking, biking, skiing, climbing, nordic skiing, snowmobiling, and so much more abound along the corridor. Whether connecting Leadville to the Colorado Trail via bike, or a route to access hard-to-get-to fishing holes, the trail would offer benefits to a wide range of locals and tourists alike.
